16th Annual DC Fashion Week

At the Woolly Mammoth Theater, the 16th Annual DC Fashion week tried its new venue on for size. The event attracted hundreds; all flocking to check out the latest couture fashions this spring. As the lights dimmed and vibrant music filled the theater, Ean Williams, Executive Director of DC Fashion Week, hit the stage to announce the official kick off to a week filled with fashion, fun and excitement.

DC Fashion Week strives to bring focus to style, as well as the importance protecting our environment through eco-friendly initiatives. Inova Health System partnered with DC Fashion Week again this year with the blue wrap challenge; the highlight of the show. Four designers created unique couture ensembles using hospital blue wrap made from polypropylene, generally used as a sterile wrapping for surgical instruments. Some designers kept their garments simplistic, while others like Tim Bradley, the creator of the Timbro Collection, pushed his designs further, adding hints of color and daring patterns to the “electric” blue wrap.  Guests stared in awe at his breath-taking collection. … Continue Reading
